Police arrested last week the man suspected of shooting an Edgewood teen in the leg in early March.
The alleged shooter later apologized to the victim, according to charging documents.
Richard Anthony Jackson, 22, of the 400 block of Meadowood Drive, was charged March 24 with attempted first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, use of a handgun in commission of a felony or violent crime and illegally having a handgun on his person.
Around 10:15 p.m. March 12, several people called 911 after hearing shots fired in the Harford Square Drive area.
Harford County sheriff’s deputies identified David Daniel Guess, 16, as the victim, who suffered a gunshot wound to his lower leg, according to charging documents.
The injury was not life-threatening.
Police believe Guess was at a friend’s party in the Harford Square development earlier that evening when he left to meet one of his brothers nearby, according to charging documents.
On his way, two or three men described only as black, saw the boy and one of them, later identified as Jackson, allegedly started shooting at him, according to charging documents.
Jackson allegedly chased Guess while shooting at him and a bullet hit the victim in the leg, according to charging documents.
Detectives conducted a number of interviews and learned Jackson, also known as “Black,” was allegedly responsible for the shooting, according to charging documents.
Jackson and his friends “actually reached out to Guess apologizing for shooting him,” according to charging documents.
The victim was not the intended target, according to charging documents.
Jackson was ordered held without bail at the Harford County Detention Center. He has a preliminary hearing in this case set in for April 19.
On Wednesday, while he was being held on the attempted murder charges, police served an arrest warrant on Jackson in connection with a separate case. In the new case, he is charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and several handgun violations.
