An Annapolis man who was arrested on felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Harford County was released Thursday from the Harford County Detention Center.

Around 1 a.m. on May 27, a trooper with the Maryland State Police JFK Highway Barracks made a traffic stop of a vehicle heading south on I-95, according to a news release from Maryland State Police.

A state police K-9 unit scanned the vehicle and alerted troopers that drugs were in the vehicle, according to the release. Five ounces of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $5,000 and more than $14,500 in cash were found during a search of the car.

The driver, Michael J. Jackson, was arrested at the scene.

The Maryland State Police Drug Enforcement Division secured two search and seizure warrants for Jackson’s home and another residence on Belle Court in Annapolis.

Police seized three shotguns, four rifles, two handguns, and assorted alleged drug packaging materials used for individual drug sales, and $20,000 in cash from Jackson’s home, according to the release.

No contraband was found at the residence at Belle Court, according to the release.

Jackson, 28, of the first block of College Creek Terrace in Annapolis, was charged May 27 with importing cocaine into the state, possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, and possession of a large amount of narcotics with the intent to distribute, and possession of cocaine. More charges are pending according to the release.
