Hdg man charged with attempted rape

A Havre de Grace man was arrested and charged last week in connection with the attempted rape of a woman he knows.
On July 13, Havre de Grace police officers met with the victim, who said she recently struck up a friendship with John Phillip Vonrinteln, according to charging documents.
She said they had a one-time sexual relationship and he allegedly began watching her and borderline stalking her, according to charging documents.
She said that on July 13 he knocked on her door and asked for cigarettes so she let him in and he allegedly made unwelcome advances and restrained her for 15 minutes, according to charging documents.
The victim told police she felt unsafe in her home as a result of the incident, according to charging documents
Vonrinteln, 48, of the 400 block of Strawberry Lane, was charged last Wednesday with attempted second-degree rape, attempted second-degree sex offense, fourth-degree sex offense and second-degree assault.
He was released from the Harford County Detention Center that same day after posting $10,000 bail.
He has a preliminary hearing scheduled in Harford County District Court Nov. 24, according to court records.
