The Aberdeen Eagles varsity football team saw its record slip to 0-4 last Friday night after a trip up north to Pylesville.
The Eagles ran into a wall, aka the North Harford Hawks, who rolled past the winless Eagles 42-6 in UCBAC Chesapeake Division action.
The Hawks scored 14 points in the first half and then blew the game open in the third quarter with a 21-point outburst.
The Hawks added a final score in the fourth quarter, as did Aberdeen, to avoid the shutout.
Aberdeen’s only points came on a 40-yard pass play from Kenny Faulcon to Freddie Hill after the Eagles had fallen behind 42-0.
Aberdeen leaders were Quintel Kelly, Kory Sampson and Keela White, all with five solo tackles each and Austin Bonsall had a fumble recovery off Michael Kelly’s forced fumble.
Kennard Squirrel had over 50 all-purpose yards in the loss.
Hawks quarterback Cody Turner had a big night against Aberdeen, running for a game-high 106 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries.
Turner opened the scoring with a 24-yard run and Tyler Lenane added the first of six successful extra point kicks.
Brandon Bayer gave the Hawks a 14-0 lead in the second quarter on a three-yard run and it was Bayer’s second touchdown run that was sandwiched by Turner’s two scores in the third quarter.
Turner opened the third quarter scoring with a 20-yard run and Bayer followed with a six-yard run. Turner then closed out the quarter with a two-yard run, boosting the lead to 35-0 and initiating the running clock that occurs in high school football when a team trails by 35 points or more.
The lead grew to 42-0 in the final quarter on Ryan Stinar’s only carry, a 12-yard touchdown run.
Aberdeen will play at home for the first time this season tonight (Friday), hosting Joppatowne (3-1/1-0)
The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
