The Harford Summer Lacrosse League began its season on Saturday, June 20, with the Blue Devil’s, Brick Bodies, Silver Spring Mining, Main Street Tower and Fallston Seafood squads picking up victories.
The most lopsided of the season-opening contests saw the Blue Devil’s team knock of Just Extream Graphics, 13-2.
Mike Nawrocki led the winners with a pair of goals and one assist, while teammates Dane Grudzien, Pat Peddicord, Adam Pietrocarlo, Doug Schulkin and Will Howard all found the opposing net twice. Michael Varipatis had a game-high four assists, while Alex Durst scored once in the winning effort.
Ryan O’Keefe and Randy Cottrell each had one goal in the loss, while teammate Jeff Lacroix dished out two assists.
Goalkeeper Brian Vierheller had four saves for the winner, while Just Extream’s George Powell had three saves.
Fallston Seafood wins
Fallston Seafood outscored Hinder Ford 3-0 in the fourth quarter of their contest to take an 8-4 victory.
Louie Boyle scored two goals to pace Fallston Seafood, while Pat Magee had one goal and two assists in the win. Trey Hilberg had one goal and one assist, while Joe Golczynski, Grant Bridges, Michael Fielder and Billy Rowe all notched one tally for the victors. Chris Eline assisted one goal in the win.
Brian Kemper posted two goals for Hinder Ford, while Owen Jordan and Brian Zink both scored once. Emmet Schamburg recorded one assist in the loss.
Brandon Macknew and Nate Gilpin split time in the Fallston Seafood goal, recording eight and seven saves, respectively.
Jake Hagelin saved 12 shots in goal for Hinder Ford.
Four-goal victory
The Main Street Tower team started off its 2010 season with a 10-4 win in its game against A & J Garages.
Leading the winners in scoring with a three-goal effort was Nick Carlson. Matt Baroch had two goals and one assist in the victory, and Ryan McNicholas came through with a pair of goals. Matt Baroch scored twice and dished out one assist, while Adam Jaweed had one goal and one assist. Alex Poteet and Travis Webb both scored once for Main Street Tower, whole Scott Keesey scratched out one assist.
Dan Flamholtz had a hat trick for A & J Garages, while Brent Shea scored twice in the loss. Andrew Blomquist scored once, and Adam Larrimore had one assist.
Justin Foudos saved 18 shots in goal for the winners. A & J Garages goalie Eric Tillman had 12 saves, while fellow keeper Adam Schaff notched 11 saves.
Silver Spring Mining victors
After going into half-time of their game with Under Armour tied 5-5, the Silver Spring Mining Company squad outscored their opponents 5-2 in the second half to earn a 10-7 victory.
Ryan Greoski put away three goals and dished out one assist to lead the winners, while Mike Strappelli and Ryan Stradauskas both scored a pair of goals. Adam Knox and Alex Hendrix both had one goal and one assist, while Patt Mull scratched out one tally for Silver Spring.
Ben Verner scored a hat track and assisted one goal for Under Armour, while teammate Neal Goldman also scored three times. Paul Dorsey scored once in the loss, while Emmit Keller and Kyle Menendez both had one assist.
Nate Gilpin picked up five saves while tending the Silver Spring net, and Justin Woodward had 13 saves for Under Armour.
Brick Bodies over PE Sales
Brick Bodies put a check in the win column to begin the 2010 campaign by topping the P.E. Sales team, 13-7.
Josh Gerber came through a with league-best performance in the victory, scoring five goals and handing out one assist. Chris Turner scored a hat trick to go with two assists for Brick Bodies, while teammate Dan Gerber had two goals. Corey Comen scored once and had one assist in the win, while John Lister and Scott Showalter both had a single goal. Toby Carson had a pair of assists for the winning side, while Mike McQuarrie posted one assist.
Aaron Williams scored three times for P.E. Sales, while Christian Shafer and Chris Armstrong notched two goals apiece in the loss. Eric Geisendaffer had his team’s lone assist.
In goal for Brick Bodies, Brian Burrill racked up 23 saves. Grant Steelman saved 21 shots for P.E. Sales.
