A Harford County man was attacked last Friday and his attacker could face assault charges.

On March 19, a man had a disagreement with his girlfriend in the 200 block of Mayberry Drive near Aberdeen, according to Monica Worrell, public information specialist with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office.

The man walked outside to calm down and another man attacked him and cut his cheek with a knife, according to Worrell.

Around 4:47 p.m., someone called 911 and an ambulance and two deputies responded to the Mayberry Drive address.

When emergency personnel arrived, the victim’s cheek was bleeding profusely.

Worrell said the victim was on edge after the assault and allegedly confronted deputies.

During the struggle that followed, the two deputies were exposed to the victim’s blood and had to undergo decontamination and change uniforms, according to Worrell.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Harford Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Police have a suspect in the assault, but as of Thursday he had not been apprehended.
