Northbound traffic on I-95 was stopped for hours after a tractor trailer truck caught fire Saturday morning south of the Route 152 exit.

Around 4:35 a.m. a red Freightliner tractor trailer caught fire for no apparent reason while being driven north on I-95, according to Maryland State Police.

Both northbound and southbound traffic were stopped until 7:05 a.m., according to state police.

The roadway was opened to all traffic for 15 to 20 minutes, then northbound lanes were closed again.

At 10 a.m. I-95 was open to traffic in both directions, but northbound traffic remained snarled for hours.
