Harford County Sheriff L. Jesse Bane was hospitalized on Thanksgiving morning, and will spend several days at home before returning to the job.
Between 3 and 3:30 a.m. Thursday, Bane, 61, went to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air.
“Thursday morning I just had some discomfort in my chest and I decided to go to the hospital and have them check it out,” Bane said Tuesday.
Blood tests and an EKG showed no signs of trouble, Bane said.
Bane was given a stress test and did not do very well. He was sent to St. Joseph Medical Center in Baltimore Friday morning for further testing and a procedure on an artery in his heart.
“They put a stent in there and I’m good as new,” Bane said.
On Saturday, he returned home.
“I wanted to come in to work on Monday, but the doctor said ‘no,’” Bane said.
He had planned to take several days of leave toward the end of the week, but because of doctor’s orders, added a few days to his planned time out of the office.
In Bane’s absence the chief deputy, Col. Greg Carlevaro, is in charge at the sheriff’s office.
“I feel great, no pain, no discomfort, no nothing, I’m ready to get back in the saddle,” Bane said.
