A Havre de Grace man was killed in a car accident on the outer loop of the Baltimore Beltway that had traffic backed up for hours Tuesday morning.
Harvey Lee Fisher, 62, of Havre de Grace, was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma from the southbound I-95 ramp onto the outer loop of Route 695, according to Maryland State Police with the Golden Ring Barrack.
Fisher made an unsafe lane change, hitting a 2007 Peterbilt truck trailer driven by Ramond Shelton Jr., 53, of Lincoln, Del., state police said.
The Tacoma hit the truck tractor, hit the Jersey barrier then bounced back and hit the same vehicle a second time.
Mr. Fisher was partially ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene around 6:30 a.m. by a paramedic.
Shelton was not injured and was not transported for medical attention, according to state police.
Police said neither alcohol nor speed were a factor in the crash.
The highway was closed for several hours, according to state police, backing up traffic on I-95 south during rush hour.
