Staff report
The Harford County Department of Public Works, Division of Water and Sewer, is poised to begin its twice-a-year flushing of fire hydrants. The process will begin Monday, Sept. 7, and is expected to be completed by early December.
There are approximately 4,000 fire hydrants that will be flushed by the county during this period. Flushing will be conducted between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m.
“The flushing of fire hydrants may result in a temporary discoloration of water, changes in water pressure and temporary interruption of water service during the flushing process,” Water and Sewer facilities chief Edward Kimmel said.
“We ask for the cooperation and understanding of our customers and apologize for any inconveniences created by the flushing operation,” Kimmel said.
