The 2009 high school golf season got in another round of play Thursday as the fall sports season is just a couple days away from being in full swing.

In a bit of a surprise at Geneva Farms Golf Course on Thursday, North East came across the Susquehanna River and beat both host North Harford and Patterson Mill.

North East scored 206, while North Harford ended with 210 and Patterson Mill had 211.

Despite the team loss, North Harford’s Ryan Triller led all players with a score of 34. Teammate Pat Neal shot 36 and Jim Munchel had 42. Rounding out the Hawks were Dave Wilson, 46, Kennedy Shinnick, 52, and TJ Springer, 57.

Patterson Mill was led by Eric Langrehr and Mike Ryan, both of whom shot 39. Zach Scheuerman had a 42, while Matt Dietrich shot 45. Stefany King, 46, and David Erdman, 47, also played for Patterson Mill.

North East was led by Josh Yates’ 39 and Carson Sparks’ 40.

Cougars beat Cobras, Bobcats

Fallston got scores of 44 from Liz Silbernagel, Harry Stokes and Jared Anzelc as the Cougars won a tri-meet at Ruggles Golf Course against Harford Tech and Bel Air.

The Cougars edged Tech, 224 to 225, while Bel Air was third with 246.

Tyler Slater added a 45 for Fallston, while Justin Sommer shot 47 and Alex Derencz shot 52.

Mike Smith and Cameron Zorbach each shot 43 to highlight Tech’s efforts, while Matt Sheridan had 45.

Michelle Smith and Alex Frazier both shot 47 and Noah Davis added a 49.

Although Bel Air placed third, Blake Calligaro fired a 38 to lead all players. Matt Hoffman added a 47, while Bryce Schmidt shot 51.

Rounding out the Bobcats scoring were Sam Foss, 57, Asher Flint, 57, and Nicole Haggerty, 60.

Other scores

In two other meets from Thursday, C. Milton Wright scored 203 to beat Aberdeen, 230, and Perryville, 234, at Furnace Bay Golf Course. No individual scores were reported.

At Exton Golf Course, host Edgewood had just one golfer and Rising Sun showed up late, leaving Havre de Grace with a day of practice.
